The University of Belgrade is one of the oldest and largest universities in South-East Europe. Founded in 1808, it consists of 31 faculties, 11 research institutes, 13 university centers and the university library with more than 1.5 million volumes. It provides education in sciences and mathematics, technology and engineering sciences, medical sciences, social sciences and humanities, with about 380 study programs, 95.000 students and 5.000 academic and research staff. The University has 11 endowments and 7 funds for supporting the best students. During the two centuries of its existence, the University of Belgrade has served its people, and its former students and teachers have greatly contributed to the development of cultural, scientific, educational, political and economic life of Serbia.
Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering
The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering represents the oldest educational and research institution in the broad area of transportation in Serbia, founded in 1950. As a part of University of Belgrade, the faculty provides accredited study programs at undergraduate, master and doctoral academic levels in the field of technology and engineering sciences covering areas of traffic, transport, logistics and telecommunications. Over the past seventy years, the Faculty has educated more than 10,000 graduates including about 200 doctors of technical sciences. Today, the Faculty has about 2000 students enrolled in nine undergraduate and eleven master majors, and one comprehensive doctoral study program.
Beside contemporary study programs, the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering is also characterized by scientific research, intensive cooperation with the industry and active domestic and regional consulting in the field of transport. The Faculty has realized more than 2,000 projects, studies and expertise.
Department of Railways
The Department of Railways offers the Rail Transport and Traffic Engineering program at the undergraduate and master levels. The Rail Transport and Traffic Engineering program provides a comprehensive knowledge and education about the railway system covering the aspects of exploitation and management, infrastructure, traction and rolling stock. In addition to gaining fundamental knowledge in the area of railway transport and traffic engineering, the program provides students with the opportunity to learn and expand their knowledge about the latest rail technologies and operational concepts.
